Apply to MSc European Forestry

MSc European Forestry warmly welcomes talented and enthousiastic students from all over the world to apply. The minimum eligibility criteria are good command of English language and BSc degree in forestry or related field. The next MSc European Forestry Course begins in August 2016.

Application procedure step by step

The call for MSc European Forestry student applications will be open during 1 December 2015 - 27 January 2016. We strongly advice applicants to gather all the necessary documents for the application as soon as possible. Especially acquiring a TOEFL or IELTS language test scores may take several weeks or even months depending on the test organiser's ability to offer you a test.

You will begin the application process on the national Studyinfo portal ( where you can search for suitable programmes like "European Forestry" and begin the application. Application form is available at only when the call for applications is open.

Once you have filled out the online application, send all of your documents (printed application form and the required enclosures) to the University Admissions Finland's (UAF) office by mail.  Your application documents have to arrive by the given deadline. E-mail attachments will not be accepted. UAF does not process application documents that have arrived after the deadline.

New fee: Applicants to Finnish higher education institutions who are applying based on a qualification completed outside the EU/ETA -area will be required to pay an application fee of 100 €. The application fee concerns applicants to Bachelor's and Master's level studies. Application fees will be collected for the first time when applying for studies beginning in autumn 2016. Instructions in a nutshell

  • When the application period begins, fill out the online application form and make sure you have the required application enclosures.
  • You can send the required enclosures by mail or use an international courier service. When sending in application enclosures, please remember to write down the UAF application number on the document. The mailing address is:

  • Make sure your application enclosures reach University Admissions Finland by the given deadline at 15.00 (GMT+2).
  • All mail will be processed in order of arrival and once your documents have been processed, you will receive an e-mail notification from UAF.

Admission requirements

student scholarships

For the first academic year, the MSc European Forestry students have been eligible to apply student scholarships from the University of Eastern Finland. In 2015, the UEF student scholarships were 500 EUR per month, maximum of 10 months per academic year for the five best applicants. The possible scholarship scheme for 2016 intake has not yet been determined (information will be updated in Nov 2016).

Erasmus Mundus student scholarships will not be available in 2015, because the Erasmus Mundus agreement between the the European Commision and MSc European Forestry has come to an end in 2014.

Academic Scholars

Scholars are merited academics who wish to collaborate with the Consortium universities in research or teaching. Scholars with good English language skills and a completed graduate degree are eligible to apply for 2-12 week scholar grants.
